Anugerah Graduan Terbaik Program (Peringkat Sarjana Muda) UiTM 2020

Assalamualaikum & Hi,

First of all, I would like to say sorry to those who left their comments in my previous post. I do not have much time to pay attention to this blog so I have few comments unread. Hence, I'll write an update to answer your questions regarding Anugerah Graduan Terbaik Program (Peringkat Sarjana Muda) UiTM 2020.

To make it short, I was awarded as Graduan Terbaik Program (Peringkat Sarjana Muda) Sarjana Muda Pentadbiran Perniagaan (Kepujian) Pengurusan Sumber Manusia UiTM 2020 last November.

I know every time convocation season coming, there will be an interview session for the awards. (You may search e-book konvo UiTM and see various awards and the name list of recipients there). In today's post, I'm gonna share with you my experience as one of the candidates and award recipient.

In April 2020, Sir Wan, the Head of Faculty of Business Management UiTM Perlis contacted me and asked me to prepare my curricular vitae (CV) and copy of the certificates. Sir Wan also asked for additional details such as my GPA for every semester during the phone calls. If I am not mistaken, Sir Wan helped to fill in certain forms on my behalf.

The next month, I received a phone call from UiTM Shah Alam asking me whether I was available for an interview session for the award. Please note that this was during MCO, so everything was conducted online. That was just like one hour before the interview. I was totally unprepared. The person who called me also gave me the link for the interview session through Whatsapp.

Around 3.30 pm, I joined the google meet. As far as I know, there were 5 panels and 5 candidates. I think the panels were senior lecturers & Deans. The candidates were all from different courses, different faculty, and different campus.

Every candidate took a turn to answer questions from the panel. The questions were being asked in English so of course, they expected the candidates to answer them in English too. If I am not mistaken, the whole session was conducted in English and there was no question about current issues or general knowledge during my session. Perhaps they did ask about it during the next session. But, I seriously cannot recall every question. I only remember 3 out of 5 questions. A very basic one...

- Introduce yourself

- Describe your strength

- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I still remember my answer to those questions. My strength was being an optimist and make wise decisions. As for the last question, I told the panels that whatever path I'll be taking in the future, I'll make sure to work hard until I become someone expert or professionals in the area. Lain-lain answer to the questions I memang sengaja tak share okay hahaha, please think on your own ya.

A few days after the interview session was done, the same person who gave me the link for google meet texted me and asked me to fill in Borang Penerima Anugerah Graduan Terbaik (AGT) UiTM 2020. In November 2020, I received a letter from UiTM Shah Alam. I have been chosen as the recipient of the award. Alhamdulillah, thank you UiTM. 

As for the resume/curricular vitae (CV), I think it is best for candidates to highlight the CGPA and their participation during the Diploma & Bachelor's degree. I do not know much about the requirements for being nominated, but based on my experience, the CGPA and experiences play such an important part. I am the Vice-Chancellor Award recipient and I was also a very active student, holding various positions during my two and a half years of Bachelor's Degree. Very tiring, stressful but worth it. Therefore, I agree that being excellent in studies isn't everything.
